Nature Drawings

The camera is my drawing instrument.
Nature Drawings is a series of mostly over-exposed black and white photographs, inspired by Sumi-e, and the tradition of Japanese black ink paintings. These monochromatic paintings are understood as depictions of infinite color, from absolute black to pure white. The black ink symbolizing the abstraction of color.

This series conveys impressions of reality, rather than reality itself, photographing the infinite space between black and white.

רישומים

אני רושמת עם המצלמה. אני מצלמת בשחור לבן במרבית הצילומים בחשיפת יתר, בעקבות ציורי הדיו השחורה היפנים המסורתיים (Sumi-e).

בתפיסה היפנית הציור המונוכרומטי נתפס כציור צבעוני, שכן היכולת ליצור גוני גוונים של אפור, מהשחור המוחלט ועד ללבן הטהור היא אינסופית. הדיו השחורה מסמלת הפשטה של הצבע.

הסדרה מעבירה התרשמות מן המציאות ואינה רישום מדויק שלה, תוך צילום המרחב האינסופי בין שחור ללבן.
